PARIS WALKS

The islands

The river Seine is the heart and soul of Paris, and at the very center of it we find two islands: St. Louis Island and the City Island. If the first is a small oasis of peace within the metropolis, the City Island has been for more than 2000 years now, the key-spot for all the powers ruling over the city.

Join Palimpseste in a charming walk, rich in history and legends, on the path of kings, templar knights, emperors, bishops and lovers, getting to see masterpieces such as Notre-Dame, the Conciergerie (exterior), the Sainte Chapelle (exterior), the Vert Galant gardens and the Mémorial aux victimes de la déportation.

THE ISLANDS

The Marais

No other neighbourhood in Paris has known so many different and contrasted destinies at a time! Originally a mere swamp, it was drained by the templar knights and later became residence to the king and nobles, that built there splendid private mansions. With the king's depart to Versailles, the Marais daceyed into a poor neighbourhood, refuge for the communities that weren't welcomed in the parisian society of the time (jews, chinese after WW1, LGBT starting from the 80s). In more recent times, the Marais has been the centre of interest for the politics of heritage requalification.

Nowadays it is a trendy district, heart of parisian artistic and night lives.

THE MARAIS

Montmartre

On the hill of Montmartre, you'll discover a small village suspended in time, hiding from the chaos of the city.

Stroll on its paved winding streets, following the steps of saints and pagans, bourgeois of the belle époque andbohemian artists, countrymen and revolutionaries of the Commune. And all of this while enjoying the breathtaking views of Paris laying at your feet!

MONTMARTRE

St. Germain des prés

One of the most iconic neighbourhoods of the capital, St. Germain des prés has been known since medieval times for its intellectual life.

During the "années folles" its sparkling nightlife turned its literary cafés in poles of freedom, culture... and fun!

Follow Palimpseste in a walk that is at the same time cultural, green and gourmet!
