Palimpseste

A palimpseste, palimpsest in english,  is a manuscript page where the text has been washed off, in order to make place for a new document. If we look with enough attention tough, we are able to find traces of the old writing, appreciating all the layers that form the final document.

In architecture, we call palimpsest city a city that has been rased many times, just to be rebuilt in a new, different way. 

Paris, with its different faces, each and every one of them so much part of its identity, is the perfect example for that!
